En 1949, un ministre écossais, le révérend David McDougall (1889-1964), rédacteur en chef du Jewish Mission Quarterly publie une brochure de 21 pages sur elle intitulée Jane Haining of Budapest. Selon Jennifer Robertson, qui écrit en 2014 pour PRISM: An Interdisciplinary Journal for Holocaust Educators, presque toutes les publications ultérieures concernant Haining sont basées sur le livret de McDougall.
