- James William Carey (7 septembre 1934 - 23 mai 2006) est un théoricien américain de la communication, critique des médias et professeur de journalisme à l'Université de l'Illinois, puis à l'Université Columbia. De 1995 à 2002, il est membre du jury du Peabody Awards. Il décède en 2006 à l'âge de 71 ans.
