- La facilitation sociale est un phénomène social selon lequel la présence d'autrui, en situation d'audience ou de co-action, a un effet bénéfique sur les performances d'un individu. Ce phénomène a été découvert par Norman Triplett à la fin du XIXe siècle (1898), et étudié par la suite par de nombreux auteurs, dont Robert Zajonc, psychologue social, qui s’intéressa également à l’effet opposé : l’inhibition sociale.
