Carter Godwin Woodson, né le 19 décembre 1875 à , en Virginie, mort le 3 avril 1950 à Washington DC est un historien, essayiste, chroniqueur afro-américain et fondateur de l'Association for the Study of African American Life and History. Il est l'un premiers universitaires à étudier l'histoire des Afro-Américains et est surnommé le « Père de l'histoire des Noirs ».
