The mappings are published on the website http://mappings.dbpedia.org , this tutorial introduces the basic features of the mappings. A more complete presentation is given in the mappings Documentation article, but documentation can also be found on the DBpedia wiki .
Choose a model to map in the list of templates. The most common appear first, a color code indicates the state of completeness of mapping: the green for a mapping that covers almost all properties, to red for a nonexistent mapping.
Click on the model chosen to go to the edit page of the mapping, if the page exists, create the page as needed.
Map the instance of type: see TemplateMapping
Map properties, see PropertyMapping
To see the list of properties to be mapped: Register mapping page and click on the link «properties are not mapped yet.»
Test the mapping: After saving the page, click on the link «Test this mapping».
The identifier of the corresponding resource in 'DBpedia in French' is obtained by replacing http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/ by http://fr.dbpedia.org/resource/ in the address section Wikipedia.
for example, the Louvre, Article Wikipedia has http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musée_du_Louvre address is identified by the resource DBpedia http://fr.dbpedia.org/resource/Musée_du_Louvre.
For a list of models used in the article, replace http://fr.dbpedia.org/resource/Musée_du_Louvre by the desired resource in the SPARQL query:
A lot of differents templates are used in a Wikipedia article, for example the Wikipedia article of the Louvre Museum include more than 100 templates ! But not all them are related to Infobox. The Infobox templates names are still preceded by "Infobox", this is why we use a FILTER clause in our query.
Edit the model as for Scenario 1.
To test the result of the mapping to the desired page, enter the title ( Here Louvre Museum ) in the title field of the extraction tester .
The fastest way is to browse the class hierarchy : http://mappings.dbpedia.org/server/ontology/classes/ .
To map a model compared to what is done for other languages:
sometimes there interlanguage links in the template definition page (link is given on the mapping of the page). See if there are mappings for the corresponding models in other languages.
take a sample of resources and find their type on other endpoints chapters.
The list of properties is accessed from the left menu wiki mappings: http://mappings.dbpedia.org/index.php?title=Special:namespace=202&AllPages . That's enough to look for possible names following properties (often the names used in the infoboxes of Wikipedia).
Compare to what is done in other languages. If you know the type associated with the infobox to map, for example http://dbpedia.org/ontology/Museum , the previous query provides the most common properties:
This query can be a bit too heavy for frequently used templates, try to remove the line with 'filter'. If not, take a sample:
Other help: click on the name of a class in the class hierarchy, the page contains a table with all the properties already mapped to one of the instances of this class.
