Von Juni 2005 bis Mai 2007 war er Minister für Unternehmertum, Handel, Handwerk und freie Berufe.

He is Laureat of the Concours General de Philosophie.Mr. Dutreil served in the highest offices of French government for over fifteen years prior to his joining LVMH North America in 2008. His ministerial appointments included Minister of Small & Medium-Sized Businesses, Commerce, Crafts and Liberal Professions (2005-2007), Minister of the Civil Service and State Reform (2004-2005) and Secretary of State for Small & Medium-Sized Businesses, Commerce, Crafts and Liberal Professions (2002-2004). He was a Member of Parliament from 1994-2008 and of the French Council of State (Supreme Court for Public Law) from 1989 to 1992. Prior to his political career, he was Maître des Requêtes au Conseil d’Etat, where he was admitted in 1989 with rank 1st.In 2002, he was the first President and founder of the Union pour un Mouvement Populaire, one of the two main political parties in France. As Minister in the French cabinet, he is known for the “Dutreil Acts”, which have modernized the French tax system, the distribution system, the professional education system and encouraged a pro-entrepreneurial culture and environment in France. In 2004, he has founded the “Entreprises du Patrimoine Vivant”, a network of 600 French companies, including Hermes, Dior, Chanel and others, which define themselves as cultural actors as well as industrial and distribution companies (http://www.patrimoine-vivant.com/en/). He was appointed President of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton Inc. in August 2008 as well as member of the Advisory Board of L Capital, a Private Equity fund part of LVMH. LVMH North America operates 40 brands in different categories - Leather goods, Fashion, Perfumes&Cosmetics, Selective distribution, Watches&Jewelry, Wines&Spirits with a portfolio of prestigious luxury brands which have steadily growing during the last six years. As President of LVMH NA, Mr Dutreil has defined and implemented LVMH policy in the fields of Art and Culture in North America, bringing exclusive support to disruptive projects like the Marina Abramovic Moma retrospective “The Artist is present” in 2010, developing social initiatives in favor of diversity in Art and establishing strong relationships between LVMH and American main Art and Cultural institutions.
