| - Le vol British Airways 9, parfois appelé Speedbird 9, ou encore incident de Jakarta, était un vol régulier entre Londres et Auckland, avec des escales à Bombay, Chennai, Kuala Lumpur, Perth et Melbourne. Le 24 juin 1982, le vol est assuré par un Boeing 747-236B. L'avion vola à l'intérieur d'un nuage de cendres volcaniques rejetées par l'éruption du Galunggung, en Indonésie, qui entraîna l'arrêt des quatre moteurs. La raison de ces arrêts ne fut pas immédiatement apparente à l'équipage ou au contrôle au sol. L'avion fut dérouté vers Jakarta, dans l'espoir que suffisamment de moteurs pussent être redémarrés pour permettre d'y atterrir. L'appareil parvint à planer assez longtemps pour sortir du nuage de cendres et tous les moteurs furent redémarrés, permettant à l'appareil d'atterrir en sécur (fr)
